All I have to say about user fees is that if they are implemented and
I am going to be nickeled and dimed to death by a bureaucratic
nightmare that adds overhead and significantly more per hour cost to
an already expensive per hour rate for flying time, I am going to hang
up my wings...

Just imagine what the per pilot cost of the FAA will be when about
200,000 pilots are driven out of the system by user fees.

It all depends on what they call a user.

If they consider 'ATC contact' to be 'use', then it won't cost me any more.
I rarely contact ATC, and when I do, it's optional. I won't call for flight
following, and I'll avoid airports with towers.

By the time I get near class C airspace, I'm usually high enough to go over.
The local class B normally tells me to remain clear, so I won't bother them
either.

That's fine for you, but my club is based at a towered airport in the
center of a class C...

Can you say u$er fee$?

Anyone who fuels their aircraft with avgas or mogas may see a four-fold
increase in fuel tax:

"a nearly four-fold increase in the fuel tax paid by general aviation
operators (avgas and autogas)" From:

Wait - you say you fly between non-towered private-use airfields and
generally don't use ATC when you do? Tough. You have no idea how
expensive it is for the federal government to maintain the atmosphere!
You think it just grows on trees!?

On a point of pedantry, some of the atmosphere does grow on trees :-)§

I wonder what it'll be like for ATC if all of the VFR aircraft that
currently use flight following become 1200 blips on the radar?

I imagine that any difficulties that might cause would be shortly followed
by a mandate to use flight following in most areas.

Followed by a bunch of blips with no transponder return? G
