Evacuating for Katrina
So here we go again. It's just before 6:15am, and what was a storm a few
days ago is evolving into a catagory 1 hurricane. There's not a hanger to be found on the eastern seaboard of Florida, so we're on our way north. You just have to love Florida .... Marty |

Hey,
I loved living in Florida. You just have to blend in with the environment, and you do fine. You forgot to mention Sharks by the way. Lots of Sharks. I had a close call with an Alligator once. I was throwing rocks at it to scare it off while I was fishing (I was 16 ok?). Few minutes later, I see two eyeballs about 1 foot from my feet in the water (I was standing on the bank). He lunged out of the water, and I RAN. Cool thing about alligators, they run straight real fast, but they can't corner. Anyway, I live in nice safe California now, only black widows, rattlesnakes and a few bears to worry about here. (no earthquakes up here in the mountains either) Dave "Paul Tomblin" wrote in message ... In a previous article, "Marty from Florida" marty@-x-x-x- remove -x-x- worth.net said: So here we go again. Yeah, those great whites up there at Stinson Beach.
Theres been a few in Santa Cruz. When I lived in San Jose, I would go to Santa Cruz and rent those little 14' boats to fish over the reef. Saw a few of those great whites out in the kelp. Pretty scary. If they were smart enough, they could flip that little boat and have a free meal. (of course, sharks don't really like the taste of us). Dave "Darrel Toepfer" wrote in message ... Well, I moved here because I wanted to be close to my mother when I was

Hi Marty
Good luck to you. I was there 2 years ago with the fires in Kelowna - it ain't fun. My thoughts are with you - hope you make it through OK. Tony,
Thanks for the kind wishes. As it turns out, we simply brought the plane to the center of the State and parked her for a couple of days. I brought her home without a scratch. Our next trip is from West Palm Beach to a small town in northeast Missouri the end of this week (Sept 1st or 2nd). Best wishes to all who have been riding out Katrina in Miss. and LA. Marty |
