Spurce Goose

Has anyone created this for MSFS? Just saw the Simpson's last night
and made me wonder.

Go see the movie 'The Aviator' for the answer. :-) It's worth seeing.
Something to do with that government git played by Alan Alda who
dubbed it the "Spruce Goose" and the name stuck. Howard Hughes might
have not been a hero to most but he was a hero to me.

It was made mostly out of birch, not spruce.

And only because the government wouldn't give Hughes the aluminum he
wanted to build it. It was designed originally to be made out of
aluminum.

The Aviator comes out on DVD in as week or so if I'm not mistaken! - I
cant wait!

I saw it at the theater but I'll probably rent it to see again.

p.s. Aviator deserved best film award, best director and best actor
(Decaprio), IMO.

Agreed! - the problem is simply that the cast and crew are not part of
the "In Crowd" in Hollywood at the moment!

After seeing the Spruce Goose I am astounded that people were actually
in that thing when it attempted to take off... I'm sure it only got up
about 18 foot and when it was a bit of a trouser filling experience
then it flopped into the sea/river again.

It would still be a unique simulation though. I seen it in some
museum in Oregon. I can remember there were smaller planes situated
or suspended under the wings of the Spruce Goose to illustrate the
size but when you see it close up it looks quite fragile... well I
certainly would not step in it if there was any possibility of
someone that could attempt to lift it off the ground.
