Gig,

I am. For those that saw the original and either liked it or thought it
was
silly, the new version has very little in common with the original and
this
season has even less.

You mean, there are people that haven't seen the original???

I agree with you. I view it as something completely new. And it's pretty
good,
IMHO. Although I'm sure glad they finally got off that frackin' planet.
That
was boring.

Let's be careful here there are some of us that have the show Tivo'd and
haven't fully caught up.

That said, they are telling the same story but it's like the original was
the version made for kids and the new version is for adults. The original
had to have black and white, good and evil. The current is a hole metric
buttload of shades of grey.

I never saw the original. The new one is one of the best things on tv.

The primary purpose is the same, as are a few other points like the history
of mankind, the cursewords, the measurement units, and the nicknames. Oh,
and of course, Richard Hach...

But the first one was much more of a Star-Trek like series with short, mini-
plots about the characters' adventures. They really didn't have all that much
to do with Earth or Cylons, that was just the justification for the stories
(as opposed to "Boldly go where No Man has gone before.")

The new one is much more of a miniseries/soap opera revolving around the
characters, and around the primary goal of finding Earth and battle with the
Cylons. The shades of grey are because it's more Drama vs. Family/Comedy.

I'm not sure which one I like better. I like them both - I liked watching
the reruns of the original series that they started played on Sci Fi when the
new one first came out, too. But they are two VERY different shows...

Dan,

I never saw the original.

Well, you gotta like "cheesy", but then the original is a lot of fun.
Also, it's amazing how our image of "future" has changed in only 30
years or so.

Think 'Starsky and Hutch' (the original tv serie) but
with spaceships and cheesy special effects...

The new serie is indeed neat (but please, don't spoil
it for me, I don't have a tv, and wait for season 3 to
come up on DVD :-)

Heh I'm past the 500 hour mark, and I still do that. But I'm more
likely to check out the airplane keys on my key chain now.

I read an article in some magazine recently about the new DA-40. The
article started by speaking of this as a good trainer, being purchased by
many schools because of the increasing number of "new student starts".

That was good to read.

Gene,

Is that a high wing "So say we all" or a low wing "So say we all"?

Nope -- check Wikipedia, or even www.felgercarb.net

(I'm *not* kidding about the website!)
