32 Russian Soldiers Killed and Wounded In Chechnya

32 russian solders were killed and wounded in Chechnya Chechen Mujahideen attacks and a land mine blast killed seven Russian soldiers and wounded nine others in Chechnya over the Friday, an collaborate Moscow backed administration said Saturday. In the 24 hours, Mujahideen fired on russian positions 19 times, killing four soldiers and wounding seven, the collaborate administration official said, speaking to AP on condition of anonymity. Another two soldiers died in a clash with Mujahideen near the village of Gekhi late Friday. A military car detonated a Mujahideen land mine in Urus Martan, killing one soldier and wounding two, the official said. Four Russian soldiers died and 14 were wounded in Mujahideen attacks and land mine explosions across Chechnya over the previous day. Chechen Mujahideen fired on Russian military positions 22 times in the previous 24 hours, killing three servicemen and wounding 11 others. A Russian sapper was killed while attempting to defuse a land mine on a road near the village of Gikalo in the Jokhar suburbs on Saturday. Three more servicemen were wounded when their car hit a mine near the village of Samashki in the Achkhoi-Martan district. Two pro-Moscow collaborate were also killed when unknown attackers opened fire on them in the capital Jokhar. Russian forces used heavy artillery to pound suspected Mujahideen positions throughout the mountainous southern Chechnya, and troops rounded up 140 people in the last 24 hours on suspicion of aiding Mujahideen. Russian forces have waged two wars against Chechen army in the past decade, withdrawing in 1996 after a devastating 20-month conflict that left the region with de facto independence and returning in 1999.
