A true story of a Cessna that landed on the USS Midway in 1975, saving a
family of seven:

There's video of the actual landing:

Superlative landing, for someone who had never landed on a carrier. I guess
when the lives of your entire family depend on doing it right the first time,
you learn fast.

Larry Chambers, skipper of the Midway at that time and who retired as
a rear admiral, is alive and well and living in Chapel Hill NC. He
talks about turning his back as the helicopters were being pushed
overboard on his order, because he expected to be court martialed for
ordering them into the water and did not want to say he actually saw
them splashed.

When principle and statute clashed he chose principle. Can you say
'role model?"
