Parowan 1st practice day 6-19
Pilots meeting at 10:30 am went well and was short. Grid happened at 12 with
first launches shortly after. Everything went smoothly, lift was up to 180 again, with climbs on course of over 10 kts. The stantards and 15 meters had the same course with polemtn and then Zion as turnpoints, Sports was shorter. The leg to polemtn went fast for most as it was downwind, Then came the leg to Zion, into the wind. Past Brainhead things got blue but lift was to be found. This leg is over a high ground area, so final glide home put most high at the finish, like several thousand feet. Its a full contest. Tonight is the pilots manditory meeting followed by dinner. We meet in a hanger which has been given tables and chairs. Very clean and nice. Even though we have 1 runway, today all landings went well with no crowding. I would post some speeds, the task for 15 and standards was 156 miles, but nothing available yet. Fly safe, Thermal tight, Soar high. # 711 reporting. |
