Default InReach died

anyone else ever have your inReach die?
Mine was fully charged, turned it on and got a good tracking signal. Put it in my pocket and went soaring. After I landed it was dead. Can't turn it on at all.
Tried to contact Garmin but their customer support system is terrible. Cancelled my subscription.
Too bad i really liked it but I was never happy with Delorme customer support and Garmin is even worse.

I found my original Delorme inReach manual and tried the Delorme Technical Support phone number. It worked!
Technical support said I needed a software update.
He had me hold the X button and the down arrow at the same time for 1 minute.
After that I hit then power button and it came back to life.

The Tech guy said that for now they can still use the direct Delorme number but eventually Garmin will take over completely.....

OK, now got to put my subscription back online.

You lucky *******!
Mine powered up for the available update, but no InReach found by the Sync software. Screen was dark at that point.
Used the soft reset: X and down buttons for 30 seconds. Nothing.
There's another level of soft reset: Plug in the charger, X and down for 30 seconds. I own a brick.
Did get through to Garmin support easily though.
It's $150 for a replacement.

Might be handy to post the Delorme Technical Support phone number for the next one, who doesn't have her/his manual handy.

Default InReach died

For reference, Garmin shipped the replacement InReach to me 5 days after I discovered the problem.
The Garmin tech support number listed on their website worked fine.

This number goes directly to the service department for InReach.
800 511-2459
But they are only open Monday to Friday from 830AM Eastern and close at 5PM Eastern Time, so call before lunch.
