LS6 canopy gas spring

Resurrecting this old thread, as the canopy strut on my LS7 just wen caput. Pretty sure it uses the same strut as the LS6. Richard (or other LS6 owners), could you let me know what replacement strut you found? Thanks, Jordan I replaced my LS gas spring, but the source was the ex-LS dealer in Canada. If your local dealer can't help... From the groups.io "LSgliders" forum: https://groups.io/g/LSgliders/message/19 In case that link doesn't work, the key info was Herst-Dat is german for "Herstellungsdatum" = date of manufacture. August 1987 in this case.... truly time to change. When you Google for "gasdruckfeder 850n 7256516" (gasdruckfeder = gas strut) you have a few hits, e.g. https://www.agrarexpress.de/gasfeder...ung-850n-360mm |

Try a 12.8 “ Strong Arm 4540 Lift support ~850N. Will likely have M6 ends and need a M6 to M8 adaptor and use the fittings from your old strut..

Unfortunately, on my worn-out strut, while one eyelet/bearing end is threaded onto the shaft, the other, attached to the cylinder, doesn't seem to be removable. Jordan |

As I recall you are correct. I was able to find a 2nd end from another strut that had been retired.
Might be able find a suitable end online. Brian |

You might also look at the struts on the front access door of the a cobra trailer. I seem to recall they used the same end fitting or possibly one I thought I could make work.
