Is it time to move RAS to a more solid footing?

Could there be a small "elected" group that acts as moderators
essentially tossing anything that is not soaring related of which
there are more and more posts appearing as the nuts and spammers get
more active in these un-moderated newsgroups. Is it time for the RAS
management group?

I would be happy to see a move to a Google/Yahoo group and forget
about this newsgroups format which is being ruined with spam and the
insane.

Get a proper newsreader and use a kill-file. There are, relatively, very
few spam posts to this newsgroup. My kill-file has just one entry.

Agreed. As ugly as the spam is, I'd much rather deal with it than be
forced to deal with a browser-based newsreader. (Never mind that this
is posted via google groups.)

Do google leave the spam in? My news provider must filter it out, if
there is much spam in /this/ group.
