Default Girl Scout floats real pilot project

Here is a link to a wonderful and fascinating story that might be of
interest to the entire aviation community. This feature article appears
in Thursday's edition of the Harrisburg (PA) newspaper. The Fly-in
competition is this Saturday at KAOO.

It's interesting that this is a Girl Scout project. Girl Scouts are
EXPRESSLY forbidden from flying in GA aircraft.

This is a major reason my wife (a pilot) and daughter withdrew from
the Girl Scouts.

For quite some time, the Boy Scouts had the same policy.

I believe the current policy is that you can fly taking off and landing at
the same airport, but no cross country rides.

Our EAA group did a Girl Scout Young Eagle fly, but all the girls had to register 'on their own'; the Girl Scout part
was an aviation badge activity...

Very shady, and the people invoved in the Girl Scout troop would have their
asses hanging out, bare and ready to be kicked, if anything bad had
happened.

Just because it was not a "wink wink" official function would matter very
little to the lawyers.
