Default Happiness is a warm ipod

....and an audio panel that you can plug it in to. Flew VNY-LAS on
Thursday with a nano plugged in to the auxiliary audio input in my
Cirrus. Now my flight has a sound track! Clear skies, smooth air, a 45
knot tailwind (!), an autopilot, and Yanni Live at the Acropolis. Now
that's my idea of a good time!

I must have gone into karma deficit on the way out though because
yesterday a front rolled through, and the 45 knot tail wind turned into
a 50 know headwind with icing and occasional severe turbulence. I
probably could have made it, but I decided not to find out. There are
worse places to be stuck than Vegas. First time I've ever been grounded
by weather away from home.

Best decision I've ever made. Today was CAVU. Got up at 5:00
(adrenaline is a wonderful thing) and took off just as the sun was
coming up. Only a 20 knot headwind, and just a little chop coming out
of McCarran (which might have just been wake turbulence from the C130 I
was following!) Heard a lot of air chatter about how great today was
compared to yesterday.

I made it back early enough that the guy who had the plane checked out
this morning didn't have to delay his flight.

Anyway, if your panel has an audio input and you've been thinking about
bring along some tunes, I highly recommend it. Staying on the ground if
you're unsure about the weather seems like a pretty good idea in
retrospect as well.
