Default February 18 & 19, 2012 SSF FIRC in Seattle

The Soaring Safety Foundation is conducting a CFIG Revalidation Clinic
in Seattle the weekend of February 18th and 19th, 2012. It is open to
everyone - not just instructors. This is your best opportunity to
prepare for your next written test (private, commercial or instructor
in gliders), prepare for your next oral exam or just brush up on
safety.

This clinic consists of 16 hours of concentrated instruction. The
focus is on material most important for instructors to teach.
Coincidentally, this is the material most important for glider pilots
to learn. Many non-instructors attend the course regularly to keep up
their soaring knowledge, help them be safer pilots and just enjoy the
presentations.

The clinic will run from about 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday,
February 18 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. At the end of the clinic,
your instructor's certificate will be re-validated on site without
your having to go to a FSDO as in years past. The clinic is valid for
renewal of multiple types of instructor certificates -- glider,
airplane or helicopter.

The clinic will be held at
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Seattle- Sea-Tac Airport
19621 International Blvd, SeaTac WA 98188

Cost is $150 per person. Register at http://www.soaringsafety.org/request/firc_register.php

This year's FIRC is being presented by Richard Carlson and Ronald
Ridenour. Rich is chairman of the Soaring Safety Foundation, a long
time gliding instructor and long time presenter of these clinics. Ron
is a DE for power, DE for gliding, tow pilot, successful gliding
competition pilot and air transport pilot. Ron also owned and operated
the largest glider flight school in the upper Midwest.

Contact Mark Nyberg (425/644-5678) with any questions.

Default February 18 & 19, 2012 SSF FIRC in Seattle

I just found out that our Flight Instructor Revalidation Clinic (FIRC)
here in Seattle on February 18 & 19 will be the first one to use the
new guidelines from the FAA.

The new FIRC will be more interactive and new content will include:
- New teaching tools, such as videos and the Condor software
- How to deliver scenario-based instruction.
