With all these pirates running loose why aren't ships defending
themselves with some real firepower? Are deck guns no longer made? Greasy

I've encountered merchant ships dropping "gray whales" just off our coast and had rather argue in court than be a pussy.

Probably has to do with what is a merchantman and you know how lawyers are, any loophole to avoid paying a claim...
