Default Heritage Flight Academy on Long Island

I'm considering going to Heritage Flight Academy on Long Island for their
"finish
up program" Private Pilot license. Has anybody had any experience with this
flight school?

IIRC this school (rentals also) opened two years ago when the American
Flyers franchize closed their doors at ISP. Two AF guys (managers) went
across the field and formed HFA. Their names escape me, but both are
straight shooters, with lots of energy, motivation, and plans for the
future. They are very active in hosting FAA safety seminars (always free
coffee), and are trying to promote some nitch flying (like tailwheel
instruction and rentals). The only downside is they hide their pricing
information on their otherwise very good WebSite, and their pricing is not
cheap (i guess that's why).

KISP has slim pickins when it comes to training. Two other options are CAP
across the field (and all that that involves), and the old Grumman Flying
Club (GACE) that shares the driveway with HFA.

I am presently flying at another field, but I'll put in a plug for the GACE
folks. I chatted with them three months back about joining. They run a fine
organization with good planes and excellent availability. Check out their
web site:

Good luck on finishing up.

I know them very well and you will not find a better group to work
with. Professionally run in every detail. No one even comes close on
Long Island and in the metropolitan area for that matter. Always go
back to shoot some approaches and rent the Citabria. My home away from
home.
