Default Can old LORAN receivers use single loop antennas

The new Enhanced LORAN receivers will use H-field double loop antennas to
avoid the p-static that plagues the old E-field whip antennas.

A developer of an enhanced LORAN receiver said that old receivers could
not be retrofitted with double loop antennas.
-- Is this because the new antennas provide two data streams to the
receiver instead of one?
-- If so, would a single loop antenna provide one data stream that an old
receiver could use?
-- Would a single loop antenna still have the p-static immunity of a
double loop?
