Default Old Cessna 172 --- Cracks in Flap Trailing Edges

How are these things being repaired, with a 1"-wide aluminum sheet doubler
sandwiched between the corrugated skins? That's what one of the IA's here
suggests, other than replacing the skins, which would cost an arm and a leg.

TIA.

Another option (more expensive) would be to install the trailing edge bead sold
by BAS I think. It stiffens the trailing edge and helps to prevent cracks,
dents, bends. About $80 to $100 bucks for the two beads then the labor to split
the skins and install them.

There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing
as simply messing around with airplanes.

Thanks. I believe that's the way we'll go and I found the trailing edge
bead at McFarlane's and Aircraft Spruce.
