Hi everyone, let it be known that it's official I am now glider
pilot

I finished my practical yesterday for my private glider pilot, so I am
now able to carry some ballast in the form of my daughter.

It took me two years due to family, finances, and work, but I decided
to buckle down and spend an entire week at the glider port without
interruption. It paid off.

Would like to say thanks to Jim Geiger, Knut, Ingrid, & Aaron
Kjenslie, and everyone else at Seminole Lake Gliderport.

I can finally start to really learn a thing or two about flying!

Congrats Tom! Welcome to our little family of glider pilots.

Only one piece of unsolicited advice: keep flying!

Don't sweat the 2 years: that's nothing compared to the rest of your
life.

Congratulations!

What's the requirement in the USA to be able to carry passengers ? In the
UK, you have to be at least a BI ( Basic Instructor )

In the US, a certificate higher than student is required...that's it.
Private, recreational, sport pilots may all carry pax.

There is no legal or regulatory requirement to have a BI rating to
carry passengers.

Congrats to Tom.
