Does anyone know if GW Bush ever completed his 102 checkout and
achieved comabt readiness? Did he ever sit Air Defense Alert? Did the
USAF/ANG ever get any return after teaching him how to fly? FWIW in
ADC it used to take 10 rides to complete a transition (no weapons
system training) checkout and 36 more to become combat ready and
qualified to sit alert. Don't know if the FANG had lesser requirements
but I sorta doubt it; their crews had to integrate with the regular
ADC force.

First, Bush did not fly with the FLANG, he flew with the TXANG. From what I
have read, he did complete his training in the F-102; not sure about
acheiving "combat readiness", as his unit went through a major mission
change as he was completing his training, IIRC--it became the F-102 combat
crew training unit for the entire ANG (and maybe the active Air Force as
well, since they were hastily getting out of the F-102 business at that
time?).
