Is it common for people to do partnerships on little planes like the 172? if
so how does that work out?

As they say, "Your experience may vary" but. . . I am a part owner of a
Tomahawk (5-9 members). It's all very friendly and low stress.

Co-ownership (the official FAA term) can work out very well if properly
executed. Has for me. This topic has been beaten to death in many threads
on RAO. You can find them using Google group search.
