How'd you isolate this one? Were the plugs worn badly?

Didn't nobody never tell you about Aircraft Spark Plug Service in Van Nuys? $75
would have gotten you a complete set of overhauled plugs for a 4-banger. The
drill is to send them your old plugs immediately after the annual and for about
$50 a set they will overhaul YOUR plugs and send them back yellow-tagged. You
then put them on the shelf for NEXT year's annual.

I'd let the IA put the words in the logbook. It appears that English is not
your primary language. See comment later about safety wire.
->Froze up pulley on elevator cable guide roller "barring was clogged with

Too many words. "Elevator cable guide roller bearing (sta 132) frozen.
Cleaned and lubricated bearing. Functional test OK.
Nobody really cares what the bearing was clogged with.

And three of them missed the starter safety wire? Without pulling the manual, I
can't remember whether the starter bolts have lockwashers or whether they
REQUIRE safety wire. Why do you think that safety wire is required?

I didn't want to belabor the obvious. However, one certainly would have

Paid alittle more than half that ($8 ea.) for a six banger from another.
Will get the contact info if anyone is interested. Can't report on how
well they perform (ordered 12) until they arrive, should be here this
coming week...

No, you paid almost exactly the same. A four-banger is eight plugs, times $8 a
plug, plus postage on ten pounds comes up to about $75.

But the price quoted is using your own plugs, we purchased refurbished
ones outright for $8 ea. No core required...

Plug is as hot as it is going to get within a minute of engine start, certainly
within the five minutes it takes to taxi to the runup area. Another explanation
needed.

I've used this service, after Jim's recommendations. Very fast
turnaround, the suckers look new, and they come sealed in individual
plastic bags, and with a new copper gasket. All for $3.50/plug plus
s&h for the lot, which came to about five bucks as I recall. An
excellent deal.

In my Skylane, the starter bolts aren't safetied. I don't remember
them having lockwashers, either. I do remember the torque spec for
some odd reason (250 inch/pounds, per the TCM tech on the phone).
And come to think of it, they're not bolts either, they're nuts on
studs. The engine is an O-4700-R.

It was Aircraft Spark Plug Service... <G>
There is a cheaper plug refurbisher than them listed in Trade-A-Plane,
will have to find it...

You ought to see the performance! I'm at pattern altitude seconds
after rotation. Which is good, because I run out of fuel seconds
after rotation.

Are you kidding? The fuel bill per hour would be a killer!

Yeah, but with that built-in noisemaker (the prop tips breaking Mach 5 or
so) everybody knows to stay clear...
