View Full Version : Garmin 195 and 430

Trouble with the vertical guidance with my Garmins. I have a 195 on the yoke
and a 430 on the dash. They are both acting the same re vertical guidance and
Garmin says they don't act that way.
When I chose a "direct to" airport all works fine. When I have a flight plan
(eg inital airport, VOR, destination airport) the vertical guidance is to the
VOR and not to the last entry - the airport. I know that I can go the the Vert
Nav page and select to destination airport but it is supposed to be the
default. Has anyone else had this problem - is there a "switch" somewhere set
wrong?

It is a matter of sequence. If you activate an existing flight plan it
works defaults to the last waypoint. If you manually enter the flight
plan it defaults to the first waypoint entered. I finally figured out
that I should enter the destination waypoint first and then fill in
the intermediate waypoints.

That has never been true of my 195 - vertical guidance works to the last
waypoint on the flight plan, no matter what sequence I add them in.

I should have said I was talking about the 430, which the original
poster seemed to be having trouble with.

Just go the VNAV screen and activate the cursor. Move to the waypoint line
and it will list the waypoints. Change to destination. As was said, just a
matter of order in entering FP.
