The nearly new '57 C182 has a Northstar loran in it. I tried to Google the
company to see if they had a download section for old operating manuals, but
no joy. Is Northstar still around? If they are, do you know where I might
find a web site? If they're not, does anyone have a user's manual I could
get a copy of? Thanks!

They are owned by CMC of Canada now. See
http://www.northstarcmc.com/support/index.html but I think that's just for
marine products.

The front page of the M1 Reference Manual says:
Current Product Line now being maintained by
CMC Electronics Inc
600 Dr. Frederik Philips Boulevard
Ville Saint-Laurent, Quebec, Canada H4M 2S9
888-827-2881

This comes up every few months. Here is the link:
http://www.cmcelectronics.ca/En/Prodserv/Custsupport/custsupport_rsnorthstar_en.html

All the manuals are available there for download.
