Hi all,

It has come to my attention that the National Geospacial-Intelligence Agency
(NGA)[1] is considdering to stop distributing the DAFIF database to the
public. A lot of soaring-related software relies on this source of
information for their airspace data. In the proposal[2], there is a call
to respond if you have problems with this idea. Well, we, and I mean the
whole soaring community, do! Many soaring flightcomputers rely on this
source of data, and all will be affected by it's disappearance from the
public domain. So please, send your protest to to try to
avoid the loss of this important data source!

Regards,

André

Hi,

I agree that this is a major problem for us. I'll send a note explaining my
position.

Good Soaring,

Paul Remde

I'll send a note as well
There's another action to take--can we download and archive the data
ourselves? Is it in a format that it can be maintained over time--that
changes can be made as airspace changes?
