To all...

I have to fly into AGC (Pittsburgh, PA) this weekend. It's been several
years since I've been there. I remember the last time I flew IFR out of
there heading east, my clearance was really weird and long (like "intercept
the 257 radial off the XXX VOR then...bla-bla-bla) Apparently this is
standard operating procedure at AGC but I thought it was long and hard to
copy and it took awhile to figure it out. Could somebody out there tell me
exactly what the clearance is so I can be ready for it this time?

Also, what is Corporate Air like? Is there a better choice? I need a
Rent-a-car.

Thanks,

DB

DB, is that a published departure? Check on it, it may be in print...
Or call the ATC center that services AGC and ask if they use a standard
departure you can study ahead of time...

When I was last there (about 6 months ago) they had me doing the
published departure until about 10 miles south of the field then it was
destination direct. The FBO was fine, but someone from the Pittsburgh
office picked me up and took me back to the field.

During the two times I flew out of there IFR (within the year), I was
cleared as filed to the east without having to fly a complex DP. However,
based on your memory of the DP, it appears you are flying west. Can't help
there.

If you are departing rwy 31, though, be very careful of the taxiway route
to the departure end of 31. The first time I was there I almost
inadvertently taxied onto 31 while following Alpha to Bravo. It was
confusing to me where the hold short line was for 31, given that B1 taxiway
was more like part of the runway at the intersection.
