View Full Version : Rough Aircraft Valuation

Last time I was looking at airplanes for purchase, I thought I found a
website that you could punch in the year, make, and model of an aircraft
and some of its key features and it would spit out an approximate value.
I thought I got to it from the AOPA website...but now I can not find
it. I thought it was Vref, but when i go to their website now, it looks
like one has to buy their CD to get anything. Is there a quick and easy
way to get a rough airplane book value. I am willing to pay for a
short-term website subscription for a month or two...or something like
that. Pointers would be much appreciated.

That is where I remembered it too, but it is not there. There is a link
to the Vref site, but site seems to have no useful information other
than how to order their CD. I wonder if AOPA discontinued the service.
Are their other sources online?

The AOPA aircraft valuation system is still where it has always been.
http://www.aopa.org/members/vref/default.cfm
But you have to be an AOPA Member to use it.

Vref tool is on the AOPA website, but to use it online you've got to be
a member and have signed in. Don't know if this is where you're running
in to problems.

If I'm not mistaken, Trade-A-Plane has a valuation tool on its website also.

OK, thanks, found it. I made the mistake of clicking on the Vref icon
instead of the text...silly. The vref also gives TBO information.
Great. Thanks for the help. -Sami

Yes they do and it is conciderably more accurate then Vref. Vref always
seems around 7-10% too high in its valuations.
