Simply beautiful, but a little pricey! Still for an all in one IFR backup
this is very sweet. Need to start saving the pennies. Anyone know if XM WX
is going to become more reasonable in the near future, last I saw it was
about $60 PM, which is a little high...

The jaair web site lists *2* antennae that come with it
# GXM 30 Smart Antenna for XM Satellite Radio Services
# GA 26C Remote Antenna
Do you suppose you toss 2 hockey-puck sized things up onto the glareshield? ...2
wires dangling? ... or do you use one or the other, not both? ... or is one of
those the built-in antenna attached to the box? ... or is one of them mounted
outside on the roof? etc etc etc

For the XM weather on my Control Vision PDA, I velcro the XM antenna to
the top of my sun visor. It needs to have a good view of the southern
sky. As it is, I sometimes lose the weather when flying northbound.
The GPS satellites are more evenly distributed so the top of the glare
shield seems to work fine.

Garmin's greed is going to get the best of them, sooner or later.
The 296, as wonderful as it, (I have one, which replace my 295) makes me punch
two clearance messages before I can use either the "panel" or the "TAWS"
feature. I attest that I am not a dumb **** that will overuse these tools
they sold me.
Also, I only need one antenna.

It's $30 or $50/mo., depending on the level of service.
Unfortunately, WxWorx currently is so far ahead of the competition they
have no need to lower the price.

This isn't just Garmin. Nav systems in luxury cars almost all have
"lawyer pages" you have to get through to use their function.

celebrate after I pass the IA checkride.
