I just noticed that my instructor rating expires at the end of Sept. I
was thinking it was the end of Oct. Anyone know of a quick way of
renewing it? I am in the Denver area (KBJC). Thanks

Sure...there are several on-line renewal services available. Two that
I have used in the past are Gleim and Jeppesen.

Do it all in a couple of days at home.

I believe AOPA.org also has online CFII renewal if you are a member or
willing to become a member. I'd recommend becoming a member for all the
other benefits.

I have used Gleim online refrersher before. It is pretty straightforward.
You read a chapter, then answer a few questions at the end of the chapter.
There is a passing score, but if you fail you can take the test again (I
believe you can take it as many times as you wish). Then you move to the
next chapter, and so on... At the end of the course, it will print a
completion certificate. You mail that along with your 8710-form and your
old certificate. You will get your new certificate in the mail. Some of the
material you learn is actually useful so it is not all a waste of money.

I believe AOPA uses Jeppesen for the FIRC.

Quickest way is with an examiner. Half day or less. I usually do it that
way. Bonus is that my insurer treats it as a check ride, or whatever,
qualifying me for a discount on my airplane insurance for the year.

If it takes you more than 5 or 6 hours with Gleim, you are sipping too much
coffee between sections. YOu get a printed-on-line graduation certificate
at the end of those hours that you take down to your FSDO and you are done.

They have the same thing for the IA renewal.
