Looking to possibly upgrade a VFR panel to IFR. I've seen a few ads for the
Garmin suite of 340/430/330 for about $15k. Are these the latest and
greatest models or is Garmin about to release some new versions of their
avionics?

What's a VFR panel?

I would say one without gyro instruments, but it doesn't sound like that's what
the OP is saying.

Give a person a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a person to
use the Internet and he won't bother you for weeks.

unless he wants to replace a VFR only GPS with an IFR certifiable GPS

Garmin doesn't pre-announce new releases (example, the recent 396), so
you're on your own.
The 430 has been around for quite a few years now, and you can find
reconditioned ones - check with J.A. Air Center at KDPA.
Garmin still talks about WAAS updates to the 430, so it appears they
plan to keep it around a while yet.
