A few more rib repair photos

I had to make the weekly pilgrimage to the shop today and took a few
more pictures. Pictures can be viewed here:

ones.

Not much progress since the last week but I'm told that the pace will
pickup next week. The new section of the lower false spar arrived.
Ooooh, more pretty green metal (about 18 inch long section).

The GNS-430 was sent off to Garmin for AD compliance and a
hardware/software upgrade. Turns out there's an AD on the GPS that had
not been done the last three annuals. AD work is free but the
hardware/software upgrades need to be done at the same time. So, it's
really not free....oh well. Cost: .75 AMU.

Still shooting for a May 1 completion date.

Hey Jack,
I thought that Garmin had a set price ( .6 AMU) for their repairs? Our
430's comm board went TU and we were charged a flat fee to completely go
through the unit and have it refurbished. Not only did they replace the
bad board, but they also replaced the display (the anti-reflective
coating was worn), the bezel (paint was worn off), as well as updating
to the current firm and software. Basically, we got a completely
refurbished unit.

Also I called them up and negotiated the price down from .6 AMU's to .4
AMU's. I am unsure if they do that as a rule but if you don't ask you'll
never know, and they damn sure aren't going to suggest it.

I hope that your bird gets back to the air soon. I know ya miss her....

Negative. I wish though. No, this is some sort of hardware and
software upgrade that Garmin recommends and is in addition to the AD
compliance. Unfortunately, Garmin takes the unit and puts it on their
repair line and we get the full meal deal.

They're still saying later this year for the WAAS upgrade...we'll see.
That's going to cost us 1.5 AMUs as we got on the upgrade list.

Interesting Jon. Maybe their flat rate increased by .015 AMUs. Perhaps
I'll do a little investigative phone calling to Garmin.

Yes, I sure do. Though, with a distinct lack of flyable weather around
these parts much of the past month+, we sure picked the right time for
the work to get done.

I hope to have my Mooney back to Cameron Park soon. Its been down at
the factory service center for a new aileron after a Mexico truck
accident. With the weather lately they've been unable to paint. Since I
have several mutli-color'd stripes on the aileron, its taking forever
to get enough dry weather for each color to dry before shooting the
next.
I'm fortunate to be working with a couple Mooney students right now or
I'd be grounded.

Do you normally keep your Arrow at Cameron Park?
