Well, I'm about to throw some AMUs at redoing the interior
of my cherokee 140 (with Airtex stuff). What opinions do
people wish to share wrt the pros/cons of relatively light
colors for the interior rugs, wall panels, seats? Do the
lighter color fabrics show the dirt too easily?
(heat/cold are not really a consideration as the aircraft
is hangared and based in the US Northeast).
TIA

Yes.
The red carpet and seat materials in my plane have collected many permanent
stains in their 24 years of service. The new carpet will be dark blue and
the seat fabric will be gray speckled with darker gray and black. I
selected them partly for their stain-hiding qualities.

Go with light grey, specked grey is cool.
Dark colors get hot in the sun.

Yes, the lighter colours will show stuff....
We just installed a new Airtex interior in our Warrior... a light
beige...
We (3) do not have kids , pets etc, and tend to "keep" our cars, homes
etc. nice and are prepared to invest in cleaning..
We are comfortable with the colour.
If you have a disaster, it makes NO DIFFERENCE if it is light or
dark, you still have a mess to deal with...
But, the job turned out absolutely beaut.
The Airtex materials , workmanship and support greatly exceeded our
expectations....
I can recommend their product without any reservation!
Cheers!

Bob,
Send me your e-mail address and I will send you some shots of my triple
gray Airtex job. You may recall I was posting a chronicle of the job a
while back.

I used Airtex for the 182 ... black for the carpet (because it WILL show
dropped screws, washers, etc.) and two shades of gray for the rest of the
interior.
Anybody who has seen it at Oshkosh can comment on what it looks like.
