The plane does have an alternate static source vented inside; however, I
pushed the valve in to select the exterior port. My guess is that either
this is normal or the static pressure system has a leak.

Do you have an alternate static source that is inside the cabin, and
possible in the wrong position?

Yes, this is possible. I'm trying to figure out if jumpy instruments is
normal. I think that I should make a test or have it tested.

Could this just be that the static port is very close to the pilot's door
and you closing it cause a disruption of air over the outside static port?

A way you can evauluate this... If you are flying along and you OPEN
the alternate static port and it doesn't do anything... you have a leak.
Usually will change the altitude 50-100 feet.
