FS2004/FS9, Set location to non-airport?

In Flight Simulator 2004 (FS9), is it possible to set/change the
location to somewhere besides an airport? I want to practice
instrument approaches and start off at a waypoint or IAF. I remember
FS98 (or an earlier version) having a "Go to location" menu item. You
could then set the lat/log/altitude and other attributes.

Just go to Map View and type in the coordinates, heading, etc. that you
want.

You can also bring up the map and drag you airplane wherever you want. You
can also set the heading and altitude. This is pretty handy to try different
approaches very quickly.

Yep. I get all set up on a long final for an ILS approach and then save
the flight. (click the ; key) Name it XXXX or something easy. Then
when I blow the approach all to heck I just hit CTRL ; and I'm back at
the start of the approach.

Set the airspeed too, or else increase the altitude to allow for the

Or if you don't know the coordinates, you can simply drag the plane icon
anywhere in the map; you'll be able to place yourself at least very
close to where you want to be.

This is what Y is for; just hit the key and move your aircraft to wherever
you want. Stop and save the flight.

I downloaded a program from AVSIM called Autosave by Peter Dowson which
saves the current flight every minute for the last ten minutes of flying.
Many is the time this has saved me when for whatever reason the flight goes
awry! It even remembers the FS Nav parameters. On some third party
aircraft it doesn't always get everything set back up correctly, but you can
usually recover. Better than having to start over after a long flight.

I never use the map, I Like it "As real as it gets" whats everyones favorite
FS2004 IFR plane? I downloaded a patch for the mooney and now it flies just as
the real one and I have 800 hours IFR in it!
