Hi All
After many years good service, our Zander SR800 Vario/Glide Computer has
developed a fault.
It reads 7m/s lift when the glider is on the ground. When the range
switch is moved from 0-10 to 0-5m/s it goes off scale. The digital
averager slowly climbs till it reads 13 m/s. The audio makes a click when
you switch the unit on but after that there are no sounds.
I have taken it out the glider and had a look at it. There are no obvious
faults like loose connections. When the zero set adjustment potentiometer
is turned it makes no difference to the indicated reading.
Has anybody seen anything like this before?
Does anybody have any suggestions for getting it repaired?
This is an excellent vario. But the computer does not interface with
GPS's or PDA. (I think it may even be an analogue device). I fear it is
not worth spending too much effort on fixing it. So my next post will be about
possible replacements.
Thanks
Ian
