G'day Ian,

It wasn't the WGCDR. According to the Norwich Evening News;

"Brod Pit-Steel, who was in his 40s with a partner and young son, was
well known in the local aviation community.

As well as being an active member of Felthorpe Flying Club, he was an
associate member of Old Buckenham Flying Club, where he owned a
half-share in an aircraft."

However their veracity is in doubt after reading this statement in the
same article;

"The autogyro was invented Wing Commander Ken Wallis, of Reymerston
Hall, near Dereham."

It was, in fact, Juan De La Cierva
