I need to recover a seat for a Cessna 182.

Looking for a vendor for FAA approved fabric.

Any suggestions?

Your local upholstery shop. Look on the sample card that it meets FAR
23.853 Most stuff does now a days.

There is a well know supplier in Illinois, but I cannot remember their
name at the moment.

Airtex sells material by the yard as well as make/model specific kits.

Last I talked to Airtex (more than a year ago), they were not providing
the burn test paperwork for material sold by the yard (or was it just
the foam insulation?). Suggest you confirm with Airtex what paperwork
is provided.

If your airplane was certified under CAR 3, there's no requirement for
any such paperwork. The only requirement is to use flame resistant
fabric. There's no part 23 requirement or certification required.
