I've done the King Schools course. Standard John and Martha stuff; pretty
good.

The insurance carrier wants me to submit logs of 4 hours of dual G1000
instruction before the'll cover me solo.

Awesome and hilarious! A big congratulations to you for what reads like a
nice bird. Post a link with some pictures if you can.

I assume that Angel Flight Southeast has *not* lost a pilot, then? :)

Nope. I'm not flying any IMC until I get some hours on it, though.

Dan, what influenced you to select a turbocharged model?

Many long, slow climbs to 11,000 feet only to discover that it still wasn't
high enough to clear the towering CUs.

Also, I have friends and family out West and I want to fly over some tall
terrain.

It's good to be back.

That old saying that "two of the happiest days in a man's life are the day he
buys a boat and the day he sells it" did not apply to me and my airplane. I
felt like I'd sold my best friend.

The fact is, I love owning an airplane. Obviously I'm willing to put up with
a lot more crap than I thought to be able to fly (almost) any time I want to.

Super nice plane and you will like the performance...

Let's put it in perspective: I am confident that many long decades
from now, you grizzled, old and frail, with your loving children and
grandchildren clustered around your final bed; I am absolutely
confident that you will not suddenly raise up and say,"Damn, I wish I
hadn't bought that turbocharged airplane."

I just came back from the airport... One of the regular airport bums
there just took delivery of his brand new Maule two days ago... When I
looked through the side window as he taxied past all I could see was
silly stretched lips from ear to ear...

The airplane's in the avionics shop getting an autopilot squawk fixed; I've
been by twice today to "check on it."

The KAP140 may become your biggest maintenance headache.
The one on the 172 that was in may club would eat servos.
The one on the 182 worked fine.

Yea, renewing or getting the King extended warranty on all the KAP140
componants in the aircraft is a real good idea for real short money
compared....

Very nice! You get high-speed on one of those units? <g>

Will you & plane be at OSH (rain or shine) this year?

Yeah, I need to. I'll get to it one of these days.

Using your airplane type for an email address is like getting your
girlfriend's name tattooed on your arm.

Man, I have not been an aircraft owner for more than two years now. I
want to kick myself every time I think about having sold N7277M.

But didn't that allow you to be able to travel to the Philippines for your
missionary work?
