Hi guys need somehelp working out what has been flying round near my place.
I live on the North Coast of N.S.W Aus and has seen at night and once in the
day a large military transport flying bout , its biger than a C130,
propeller driven and has 6 engines. I know the C130 is the biggest we have
and i have not seen a 6 prop before.
Any help would be great.

Didn't this get asked last year? I reckon it's a 4(four) engined flying boat
with floats on the wingtips which you are mistaking for engines.

There have been very few six engine planes ever built, even fewer in the
last half-century, and only one or two of them would qualify as
"transports." Only one really big one had propellers, and it got broken
up for scrap before I was born.
More detail, please. For example: High-wing or low-wing monoplane?
Single or double tail? Cruciform or "T" tail? Turboprop or piston
engine? Tractor or pusher props? What color is it?
If it weren't for the "propeller" description, I'd start looking into
the whereabouts of one and only one aircraft: The Antonov-225. It's the
only big modern "transport" type plane with six engines that comes to
mind.

If you are referring to the Convair XC-99, it wasn't scrapped but is in San
Antonio, albeit in terrible shape.

It is obviously our Saunders-Roe "Princess" which is currently on a
good-will tour of the Commonwealth.

Awfully good comeback, considering it was supposedly scrapped in 1967...
Has anyone checked the hangar to see if someone's out joyriding in the
Spruce Goose?

Only in the form of recycled aluminium, it was scrapped
30+ years ago

Possibly a KC-130. The KC-130 has only 4 engines, but the underwing pods
often are mistaken for engines.

The Brits built a 10-engined flying boat, Saunders-Roe, the Princes
which flew in 1952. Messerschmitt built the six engined ME 323 transport.
I vaguely recall seeing a large German bomber capable of crossing the
Atlantic, a bomber threat to North America. The Russians also built an
Ilyushin 5-engine transport. I'm sure there must be others. Probably not
modern types however.

None of the big planes with six or more engines seem to be in flight
condition nowadays. Except, of course, for the Antonov 225.
Odds are that the plane that started this thread was a C-130 with tanker
pods, and a misidentification by a ground observer.
