Well, it's final--as of last Monday, I can post to r.a.OWNing without
feeling like I snuck in.... Yep, I am officially an airplane owner!!
I flew (airlines) to Hartford last Sunday and finalized the sale on Monday.
N2509X is the world's most beautiful aircraft--and, I will brook no argument
to the contrary, at least until after the emergency smile removal surgery is
done! She's a 1990 Socata Trinidad [TB-20]. I spent the week hopscotching
home (Colorado Springs), which is another way of saying I stopped to brag &
show off--er, I mean, "visit and offer rides to" family and friends along
the way. I'm thrilled!
Now, of course, as this group understands better than any, she's not
perfect--I'm developing a squawk list, figuring what to live with and how to
prioritize those I can't, etc. However, overall, I'm quite happy with my
new baby. Thanks to everyone on this group who has provided so much help
over the last year or so that I've been looking, considering, learning, etc.
I'm sure I have much more learning to go, so I doubt I'm done asking the
questions here. Consider yourself warned!! :)

Way to go, Doug! You have successfully joined the elite club of the
perpetually impoverished, but trust me -- it's worth every dime you'll
spend. (Actually, it *will* take all of your money, plus some, if
you let it...)
Now, the $64K question: Will we get to drool on it at OSH this year?
You've got a whole week to shine 'er up!

I wish. Between the time off I took last month for the pre-buy, last week
to pick-up & fly home, and coming up in August for Sturgis, I'm simply out
of time.... I gave serious thought to coming to your pre-OSH bash (you had
me at "free food"), but I can't even get away for that long at this point.
It's on the calendar for next year, though!!

Welcome to the club of aircraft owners. Hopefully you'll
be just as happy about it down the road after you've
put a few hundred hours on the tach and gotten through an
annual or two :^0
I still love mine but I'm driving an 8 year old pickup
and a 27 year old motorcycle to make it happen. heheeh
Remember to check gear down and locked on final. :^)

Good for you Doug! I know it took you some time to get the plane you
really wanted but I'm sure you bought the right plane.

Doug--
Congratulations! I did the same thing back in February and still
haven't had the smile removed.
You'll love every minute of it--some minutes more than others,
however. I've found life with an airplane much easier, though, since
now there's no question where your money goes.

My Chinese scooter is a year old, my 20+ year old Japanese truck with
300+k miles on it went to Mexico for $1k a few years ago...
My plane is 54 years old though...

Douglas,
Excellent aircraft and fun to fly in the mountains!
In Colorado, I trust you have a hangar arranged... BIG hail
every few years... we lost SIGNIFICANT Bonanzas a few years
ago in a hail storm at COS! We were there for the mountain
flying clinic.

Dang! My Chevy is a 1948, the motorcycle is GONE and the
travel trailer is a 1976. BUT, the C206 is a 1972. :-)

Apparently, we are in a bit of one-upmanship here. Here's my list
1980 Kawasaki kz-250 (27 years)
1956 Mercedes (51 years)
1949 Beech Bonanza (58 years)
I guess those are all sorta toys. The regular use ones are
1993 Suzuki Sidekick (14 years)
2005 Honda Pilot (well, sorta the wifes) (only 2 years old)
1988 Specialized Hardrock (bicycle, probably gets more use on a daily
basis than the above two, 19 years old)
