100 years of human flight celebrated at LAFB

Generals, diplomats, mayors and musicians joined 450 celebrants
Saturday night to commemorate the “Centennial of Flight,” a national
celebration of the brief, but historic, flight at Kitty Hawk, N.C.

A sparkling clean hanger, rafters festooned with the flags of the 50
United States, and a massive “South-of-the-Border” buffet welcomed the
guests to an evening of history, patriotism and music.

Capt. Jeff Crouse, project officer for the Centennial event, is also a
T-6 Texan instructor pilot in the 84th Flying Training Squadron. But
Crouse hasn’t flown much for the last couple of months, essentially
grounded due to the intensity of planning and logi...
