Fighter jet crashes in Vernon Parish

(EXCERPT) Pilot ejects, taken to Fort Polk hospital Louisiana Gannett

ROSEPINE - An F-16C fighter jet affiliated with the Texas Air National
Guard crashed Monday afternoon in woods about two miles
south-southwest of Rosepine in rural Vernon Parish, authorities said.

The pilot, whose name was not released by military authorities,
ejected from the plane and was taken to Bayne Jones Hospital at nearby
Fort Polk. He was listed in satisfactory condition Monday afternoon.

Vernon sheriff's deputies found the aircraft in a wooded area off a
gravel road west of Rosepine, sheriff's chief investigator Marvin
Hilton said. He said it was about a mile off Billy Kid Road and had
