I am doing research for a book detailing aircraft accidents in North
Tynedale and Redesdale, Northumberland, UK and I am trying to identify a
Hurricane that made a forced landing behind Rochester village during WWII.

I have searched nearly all of the Air Britain Serial Number publications for
a mention of the accident and I have come to the conclusion that the
aircraft was probably repaired and went back into service which is why I am
struggling to find any records of the accident.

Unfortunately to make matters worse I have no precise date or unit for the
aircraft but suspect it may have belonged to either, 55 or 59 OTU.

I know this is asking a bit much but I am clutching at straws on this one.
I am hoping someone has researched this aircraft, maybe it was written off
in another accident elsewhere or the aircraft ended up in a museum.

I hope you can help.

Yours,

Jim Corbett
