Anyone know the tail nos for crashed RAF Harriers since '96? I'm doing some
research into the area.
I know of the following crashes (but not the tail nos), although there must
be more:
GR7s:
Nevada 99
Laarbruch 99
Another Laarbruch (99?)
Wittering 99-ish
Boston 99
Coldstream 00
Lowestoft 02
T10s:
Boscombe 01?
Wittering 03
Thanks in advance,
Jim

That's great TJ, thanks a lot for digging that lot out. Fills a few holes in
my list!

Further to my earlier post. My AFM copies are not complete - ditched a lot a
few years back.
From UK Parliament questions:
"RAF Aircraft Crashes
Mr. Hancock: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what were the causes
of the crashes of (b) RAF Harrier GR7 over Rollins Air Force Base, Nevada
on 29 January 1999, (c) RAF Harrier GR7 over RAF Laarbruck, Germany on 4
February 1999, (h) RAF Harrier GR7 south of Boston on 9 July 1999, RAF
Harrier GR7 over Coldstream on 14 July 1999"
So, this would give the following match-ups:
ZD326 GR.7 Written-Off 04.02.99 - RAF Laarbruck
ZD345 GR.7 Written-Off 09.07.99 - Boston
ZG532 GR.7 Written-Off 14.07.99 - Coldstream
ZG856 GR.7 Written-Off 29.01.99 - Nevada
The GR.7 that came down in the sea of Lowestoft at the airshow was:
ZD464 GR.7 Written-Off 02.08.02 - Lowestoft.

No probs. Glad to be of help!
On the ZG476 crash:
From the Parliament website:
5 December, 2002,
Mr. Redmond: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence when (a) the Royal
Air Force Harrier GR 7 which crashed on 20 February at Southorpe, near
Peterborough, Lincolnshire, ......
Harrier GR7 ZG476 completed a period of minor scheduled maintenance, the
deepest servicing applicable to the Harrier GR7, at RAF Wittering in
December 1995. This work was carried out by RAF tradesmen."
On the T.10 that you have down for 03 at Wittering. Are you thinking of the
T.8 crash on 5 Dec 2002? This was a Royal Navy T.8 serial ZB605.

Awesome, thanks TJ!
I was thinking of the T10 that had some kind of engine problem landing at
Wittering. Don't know if it was Cat 5, but it hit so hard the gear collapsed
on landing.
Thanks again,
Jim
