Vietnam War chopper to touch down in Livermore
(EXCERPT) Huey 091 is on a final journey to the Smithsonian's National
Museum of American History, by Lea Blevins, STAFF WRITER
LIVERMORE -- A Vietnam War helicopter will land at the Livermore
Municipal Airport on Thursday as part of its final journey, which will
take it to the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.
"Going Home with America's Huey 091" is a tour that takes the
helicopter to various points across the nation before it becomes part
of the "Price of Freedom" exhibit at the Smithsonian's National Museum
of American History.
Thursday's airport landing precedes Friday's formal presentation at 10
a.m. at Camp Parks in Dublin.
"This is a big deal for veterans, especially Vietnam veterans," said
Earle Conklin, member of the 091 America's Huey committee and a
Vietnam veteran.
