Very nice Jay. What is the writing on the side of the fuselage?

Behind the canopy: Zodiac CH601XLi SLSA
Below the canopy: LIGHT SPORT (required by regulation)
At the top of the tail: the AMD logo

Jay,
It looks very nice indeed! Congratulations!
Nice panel too. I see audio panel, Garmin 430, comm radio and
transponder, correct?
What is the LCD panel with push buttons under it just under the
throttle on the center console?

Yup. The comm radio is an SL40, and the transponder is a GTX330. The hole to
the left of the stack will hold a TruTrak Digiflight IIVSG autopilot.

A Dynon D-10 engine management system.

Nice, Jay.
I'd surely be happy owning one of those!

It's better looking than I remember Zodiacs being. Did they used to not
have a bubble canopy or something, or is it just I'm used to seeing them
with blah paint jobs?
Since it's by AMD, you should put an "Intel Inside" logo on it.

The canopy is pretty much the same as always, though recent ones, both AMD
and kit, have a different canopy latch from the original - and I like the
new one much better. It might well be the paint, or else you're thinking of
earlier Zenair designs that didn't have the bubble canopy, such as the
Alarus.

Hehehehehehe...at least long enough for a picture...

Turns out I was thinking of the Zodiac CH 640.

Oh well, even that's better looking than a Sonnex.

IOW is a planned stop on the final leg of my trip home...and I may even
spend the night, depending on how much flying I've done that day.

Cool! You'll excuse me if I sit in the cockpit and drool all over
everything, I trust?
:-)
When is your planned journey?

I'll even take you up in it, if you'd like.

At this point, I'm not planning any closer than "the week of the 16th", most
likely Wednesday or Thursday. It'll depend on weather, mostly. I've got
until Saturday the 21st to be home.

If you want to see a very cool show, come the weekend of June 15th. The
American Barnstormers Tour will be in Iowa City next weekend, with 17 Golden
Age of Flight biplanes giving rides for two solid days!
Only downsides: We're sold out, and, as the main sponsor, Mary and I will
be very, very busy -- so I probably wouldn't have any time to check out the
plane. Which sorta defeats the purpose of the visit...
;-)
