View Full Version : Just a simple announcement for for students
Dudley Henriques[_2_]
June 7th 08, 02:35 PM
Just a few lines to let you know that if for any reason you student
pilots and the pilots and instructors who frequent this Usenet forum and
have devoted their time and effort freely attempting to make aviation
safer and educational wish to explore an alternative venue forum that is
moderated by aviation people, friendly to your questions and those who
answer you, you might wish to consider adding the online forum "Pilots
of America" to your list of places to hang out and exchange information.
I have explored this alternate venue and have found it to be quite
useful and seriously devoted to the aviation format.
Those interested in serious aviation discussion might wish to take note
of any and all off topic, ad hominem, and vitriolic posting that takes
place under this simple announcement post in deciding whether exploring
this new venue might be a worthwhile expenditure of your time. :-))))))
I will continue to post here as always if for no other reason than to
allow those students who are serious about aviation to be able to
compare the Usenet experience to the potential alternative experience of
the moderated aviation forum format.
Hope to see you over at Pilots of America.

The narrow view might be yours. My impression of the forum is that it's
the "Pilots of America" making ALL pilots welcome there. There are
pilots from all over the world posting there and I've yet to see
anything negative......such as what YOU have just posted here on Usenet.
Perhaps THIS is why pilots are going to moderated forums :-))

Mxsmanic or anyone else for that matter, troll or otherwise, is
welcome on a moderated forum as long as their dialog is on topic and
meets the forum guidelines.

The following is a pasted in prepared response to Usenet posts like
this one.
Serious students and pilots reading this totally useless non aviation
related exchange;
.......you might want to consider visiting and joining "Pilots of
America", a moderated aviation forum where this type of off topic and
non aviation related post is discouraged to the point where it's deleted
for you so you don't have to deal with it.
Thank you

One announcement per month is plenty.
Several per day is spamming, plane and simple.

Nah, I don't report bad behavior, I showcase it.
Dudley seems to be proving himself just as obsessed as the Buttlipps, but
with just a slightly different twist.
You two sound more alike every day.
Sure makes a person wonder, if you are not one and the same.

Amen, but I hope you do stay here, and I hope those who have left or are
leaving change their minds. I finally decided to killfile Maxwell. It's
amazing how that simple act has cut down on the crap. If one were to do
the same to Bertie...but personally, I'll keep Bertie. He's a Jekyll and
Hyde personality, and I'll keep the bad to have the good. But there was
no good in his sparring partner, and you all might be less irritated if
you just killfile him.

Actually, I'm not a Jekyll and Hyde at all. I've been accused of bullying
those I don't like, but the fact is I never flame anyone discussing actual
aviation. Might argue with them, but it would be as one pilot to another
and never the highhandedness that the utterly clueless have accused me of.
Quite simply, talk to me about airplanes and I'll talk back about
airplanes. Talk **** to me and that's what you get back...

I'll still be posting here but with a different approach. If it's flying
or aviation, I'll be more than happy to deal with it pro or con if I'm
around as always but I don't see much hope in seeing this result in much
more than the usual happening. Serious flying discussion will most
likely be taking place over on the POA forum where the general
atmosphere is much more conducive to enjoying the experience :-)

Is that's why you cross post all the kook groups.
Is that why you forge other peoples id, and then lie about it to irritate
them and their friends.
Is that why you spam the group talking to your kook friends, trying your
best to irritate you victims in leaving the group.
Is that why you work so tirelessly, staying awake as you have claimed even
today, to poison every thread with you presence - even when you most often
have little if anything to add. Daring anyone to disagree with you.
Bull**** Buttlipps, you are a liar plane and simple. It's all happened far
too many times.
You want to moderate this group, just as Dudley did, and will alienate one
person at a time if you can to make that happen. Just as you have in the
past.
Sure, you think it's a popularity contest. You think as long as you can keep
enough sock puppets, you can control the group. But frankly, I give the
people here much more credit. I really don't think they are that stupid.
Most are just staying quiet right now, because they don't want to argue with
the village idiot.

We? You've GOT to be kidding :-)))))) Who exactly is "we"? :-))
Anyway; have it your way. Call it anything you want to call it. If you
like calling it spam, so be it. I call it a public service giving people
interested in serious or even friendly aviation discussion an option to
this constant crapola you spew here on this forum.
I'll allow myself to be called a spammer all day long if it helps
aviation and people who like aviation. You obviously don't since all
anyone can Google up on you is this kind of bull****.
Every nasty or non aviation related post you make to me in the future
will carry this message as listed below, so every post you make like
this will be the direct cause of this message being repeated here on the
forum. If your posts to me are aviation related, you won't see this
"Spam" as you call it: so have at it.
And for those who don't already know, the online aviation site I'm
"spamming for" is non-profit and exists only for the enjoyment and
education of those who choose to post there.

That's what i thought. I was hoping to get Maxie to whine to them, but
no dice. He's not even bright enough to try anyway.
Shame about nanau, though. It used to be a laugh to pull some k00k's
chain and then point him in their direction where said k00k would
usually whine for days about how the mean old Bunyip was abusing him...

No, it's not an acronym. That's folk etymology. The term is simply derived

if you had a small modicum of compassion you would probably understand
Dudley far better.
my understanding is that he has a permanent injury which probably
prevents him enjoying the one thing in life that he totally loves -
flying.
sharing his knowledge and experience is his outlet for that
enthusiasm.
back in the 70's there was just such a guy in our hangar who used to
talk to the newbies. I found out many years later that the boss
actually employed him to sit in the hangar and talk to the students so
that they would develop a robust and competent sense of airmanship.
It worked because not one of his students has ever been involved in an
accident that I'm aware of.
his presence filled so much of our appreciation of flying that we all
thought we'd spent most of our flying training with him. I was utterly
shocked a few years ago to discover that I'd spent just 45 minutes in
the air with him as my actual instructor during my entire training.
The dudley's of this world fill a little realized void in the emerging
pilot's needs.
so maxwell, bugger off and give him the room to do it.
your all consuming jealousy for something so simple as competent
advise is just amazing.

Personally, I don't care if they are skeert or not or if they never
even notice. The important thing with a UDP on Google is that it would
stop the garbage flowing from GG into Usenet. If they fix it, fine. If
they don't, they stay blocked. Either way it's a win.

The irony is Maxie has disc problems in his back himself. I wouldn't be

Sock puppet, schmock puppet, it doens't make a ****. You can play word games
all day long, I could care less if you do, or if you get angry.
When names show up, either fictional second identites, your lame assed
forgeries, or just real people echoing your nonsense and cross posting the
same unrelated groups - the shoe fits just fine.

I don't believe that's a problem. It's my impression that all pilots are
welcome as long as the forum rules are followed. I've seen nothing at
all to indicate that POA is an "American" thing, unwelcome to fellow
pilots from other countries.
Please feel free to lurk the forum and decide this for yourself, but my

Well said. Ever since Dudley's Dick stopped working, he was toast. We
need to allow for Melba Henriques and applaud his courage to expose
himsself as the eunuch he is publically.

Here's the definition:
http://www.eps.mcgill.ca/jargon/jargon.html#spam
2. To cause a newsgroup to be flooded with irrelevant or
inappropriate messages. You can spam a newsgroup with as little as
one well- (or ill-) planned message (e.g. asking "What do you
think of abortion?" on soc.women). This is often done with
cross-posting (e.g. any message which is crossposted to
alt.rush-limbaugh and alt.politics.homosexuality will almost
inevitably spam both groups). This overlaps with troll behavior;
the latter more specific term has become more common. ...

constant is an accelleration into the nearby planet.

Spam doesn't go stale. It grows legs and walks away if left alone for
long enough.

I can't register. I fill in the registration form, and it comes with an
error that says: "The string you entered for the image verification did
not match what was displayed."
Um, there IS no verification image displayed.

Hi Crash;
Which forum? POA had a hacker yesterday and was down for a while.
Someone else mentioned they had registration issues there.
The Purple Board should be ok.
If any issues, try a direct contact with the administrators.
Hope you get it sorted out. There seems to be a ton of good solid
aviation people migrating to these two forums from Usenet. The posts are
"refreshing" to say the least. The atmosphere is great and believe it or
not, nobody seems inclined to discuss anything "unfriendly" :-))

Does your browser restrict images displayed in any way?

Yeah, it's the POA site. I have sent a mesage to the admins. Hopefully
they'll get back to me.

No it doesn't. Funny thing is, when I went to the "Contact Us" page, to
send them a message about it, it did display a verification image, and
I entered it in the field, and it sent the message no problems. Just
don't see a verification thing on the registration page.

Should work out for you.
These two forums are great. Good people, good sound aviation dialog, no
nonsense .
Just make yourself known as a newbie and join right in with the rest of us.

It's back up and running.
I encourage you to keep trying to register. You can't imagine how wonderful
it is to be able to read and post in a Bertie-free, Maxwell-free,
sock-puppet-free forum again!

Yes, I can imagine. I've been reading this group in Google Groups via
Foxfire with kill files. The kill file is quite full. ;-) Besides
that, I've got a fast scroll button on my mouse to quickly roll past
anything that escapes the kill file.
