I heard that the Comanche helo development program had been cancelled, even
though the development phase was nearly over, and many billions have been
spent. Just got too expensive. Is this true?

Yes. The Army decided it woudl rather spend the $14-billion in Comanche
acquisition funds oveer the next few years on a larger number of less
expensive helicopters, UAVs, and other aircraft. They figure to trade
120-odd Comanches for 800 other aircraft, solving some major long-term
shortfalls in the process.

There have been several very long threads about this in this group; I
suggest searching google news for more info.
