View Full Version : FYI: George Z's In The Hospital

Mortimer Schnerd, RN
March 16th 04, 03:08 AM
For any of you who might be interested, LTC Harold B. Hanig, USAF-Ret (of troop
carrier and air rescue fame) aka George Z. Bush has been admitted into the
hospital for open heart surgery. He was being worked up for a valve
replacement, and after today's heart cath, gets to add a triple bypass to the
valve job. It all happens Wednesday.

As you know, he's much too argumentative to die but this isn't going to be much
fun. I'm headed down to be with him in the morning.

Thank you for telling us, and I am sure that everyone here will be awaiting his
return here.

Yes, he can be argumentative, but he can do it without trying to make others
made, or without making himself look foolish in the process. Now as for
hardheaded, that is up for debate :)

Best Wishes for a full recovery!

I like that man, and I like the way he thinks...independently.

This group would be far too peaceful and tranquil if he
was absent for too long, so please urge him to recover
and get back here ASAP.

I'm a little bit terrified to think how his soon to be
enhanced circulatory system performance might energize
his abilities at being argumentative.

Nonetheless, as a fellow former Tachikawa resident, I
wish him speedy recovery.

Pass on that I've been there, done that, got the T-shirt, and am still
posting (one more bypass, no valve but pacemaker).

All my best to "da man." We old and crusty types must be preserved.

Valve job, lube, rotate the tires and good to go in about a week.

Say "hi" for me.

Do a good job, or Art will just wear him out again.

Interesting how many people use noms de net (and with good reason, no doubt).
There was a year or two ago the son of an extemely famous MAC-SOG vet who
posted for a bit before entering active duty. I know his father and figured it
out.
From evidence in his posts, I think there is a retired general, War College
instructor and advisor to the late Sen. Henry Jackson as member of the Senate
Armed Services Committee who posts here.
Then there is the B-52 pilot whose name I think I know based on his comments
about his master's thesis. A well respected guy he is, and probably heading
for a long and distinguished career.
Then there are some others.
Usenet is interesting because it allows people to let it all out and say what
they really feel. But in many cases, doing that under your real name is not
wise.

As for old Hal Hanig, good luck to him. He is a porkypine fresh off the tree,
all right. But he is one of the rare ones who served in three wars. And he
doesn't feel the need to relentlessly boast about the fact or denigrate others
who haven't done so. Lift a glass of Jack to him.
