Yep.
Mistakes in Iraq war:
1 Invading at all. Duh
2 Dismissing the Iraqi army. We could have paid them $200,000,000 for
three months (vice 5,000,000,000,000 a month that we are spending now)
and not had hundreds of thousands of military trained men hanging
around unemployed. Another duh.
3 Dismissing Ba'ath party officials. Big complaint by the people has
been no or intermittent electric power, trash collection, food
distribution. We tried to fill a vacuum, but failed. Easily
foreseeable. History, as always, is our guide. Nazi party officials
were retained in power in Germany after WWII because they kept the
power on and the trains running. The Ba'athists are nasty, but they
are not Nazis. It's now suggested that at least some Ba'athists be
brought back. Duh.
4 Ignoring the estimate of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs in Feb,
2003. Gen. Shinseki said "several hundred thousand" US troops would
be needed. The Bushies just ignored that -- it didn't fit the plan.
5 Focusing on Iraq when Al Quaida is in Afghanistan. Afghan
countryside is now run by the warlords.
6 Pushing a tax cut when the troops in contact don't have body armor
or enough ammunition.
7 Not getting international support.
At every major decision point, the Bushies have taken the wrong path.
Now we have @ 750 KIA and the Bushies are just warming up. Bush is
the -worst- president in US history.
