View Full Version : Who de-activated ground-air missiles on 9-11?
Laura Bush murdered her boy friend
May 10th 04, 07:48 PM
The Pentagon is protected by a computerized system. When a plane
enters the pentagon protected space the computer automatically sends a
message to the plane demanding the pilot punch in a code allowing it
to enter the space. If that is not done within seconds, the plane is
automatically shot down with missiles
Now you might say the hijackers knew about this and demanded the pilot
of Flight 77 give them the code. But surely he would have given them
the wrong code and there would be no time to retrun to the pilot and
beat the correct code out of him.
Either the missile system was de-activated that day or someone gave
the hijackers the code before-hand.

This is bull. I haven't been on this board for long but suspected you had no
credibility. Either you are ignorant enough to believe stuff like this and
regurgitate it or you made it up. Either way you are not credible.

Maybe they would, if it were true.

You've drawn an unsupportable conclusion from a weak premise.

Either... or... or maybe your entire argument is flawed?
How do you know about this automatic Pentagon missile system?

This fool gets his jollies making things like this up. I wouldn't be the least
bit surprised he types one handed while making this stuff up and watching
people's reactions.

I don't know about anyone else, but I killfile anything that
is crossposted to 3 or more groups, so I didn't see this
thread at all until you stripped out the other groups from
the headers.
In general I have found anything crossposted to 3 groups or
more is useless drivel of one sort or another. Crossposting
to 2 groups is usually on topic and relevant.

Surely all these issues have been addressed by the investigators of 9/11,
and can be read from their final report.
Anybody seen that report? In the net? I certainly would like to see it, the
"official" official story.
Yes, one would expect Pentagon to be one of the best protected targets in
the whole US. But US military history does not necessarily bear this out.
For some interesting reading, you might wish to peek at the following links,
and look for "C3 legacy". Here is one quote:
--- begin quote
MIT had recommended that the SAGE computer facilities be located remotely,
away from both cities and military bases, so that they would not be bonus
targets in the event of an attack. When the Air Defense Command was
called upon to select SAGE sites, however, they realized that their people
would not enjoy being assigned to the boondocks, so they decided to put
the SAGE centers at military bases instead.
Following up on that choice, the Air Defense Command looked for military
bases with the best facilities, especially good O-clubs. Sure enough, SAC
had the best facilities around, so they put many of the SAGE sites on SAC
bases. Given that SAC bases would be prime targets in any manned bomber
attack, the SAGE centers thus became bonus targets that would be destroyed
without extra effort. Thus the peacetime lifestyle interests of the
military were put ahead of their defense responsibilities.

You mean Hani Hanjour, the Arab who couldn't even fly a Cesna solo, who is
purported to have spun that Boeing down from cruising altitude, in order to
skim an overpass, clip a couple of lampposts, and then slam it into the FAR
side of the Pantagon - that hijacker you mean?

Actually, if the aircraft doesn't identify itself, it's snatched away by
tractor beams from Planet Zort.
Out of interest, where would these supposed missiles be fired from? And
where are their fire-control radars?
I greatly enjoyed a stay in the Doubletree Arlington a few years ago,
and my tenth-floor window looked out with a marvellous panorama across
DC: the Pentagon on the left, National / Reagan on the right, the
National Mall in the middle, and not a SAM radar nor launcher to be seen
in between.
So where would these mystery missiles be fired from? (And where would
the wreckage of their kills land?)
(I know, I know, no fair getting into a battle of wits with the
unarmed...)

You've never been to Minot, or Grand Forks, or Loring AFBs, have you?
(My Wife was born in Caribou. That'll show you the lengths that people
will go to to escape that region :))
Or, for that matter, from back in hte Olde Days, Sidi Slimane, Ernest
Harmon, Thule, Narssessauq, or 1950s Dharan.
One thing that was realized fairly early on wrt SAGE Center siting was
that if the bombs are actually falling, they've pretty much become
irrelevant. What was more important was the ability to track incoming
Soviet Bombers hours before they reached any worthwhile
target. (Contiguous Radar Coverage in the 1950s started at the
Mid-Canada Line (Roughly at the latitude of teh Southern edge of
Hudson's Bay (And therefore, covering the Southern half of Canada
(Saved changing the name). Bombers with the performance of the Bison
and Bear would then be tracked for up to 2 hours before reaching the
population centers of either Canada or the U.S. I wouldn't have
wanted to be a Soviet Long Range Aviation crewman, that's for certain.
The construction of the DEW Line, Mid-Canada Line, and Pine Tree Line
has to rank as one of the greatest Engineering Achievments of modern
times. There are few spots on the globe as remote or difficult to
build and work in.

You want refutation? OK, how's about the *fact* that the US dismantled its
last fixed SAM systems guarding the continental US back in the 1970's? "With
the exception of batteries in Alaska and Florida that stayed active until
the late 1970s, by 1975 all Nike Hercules sites had been deactivated."
(source: www.fas.org/nuke/guide/usa/airdef/nike-hercules.htm )
After 9-11 the US Army deployed Avenger and (IIRC) Patriot units into the
D.C. area to protect high-value targets, but before 9-11 the only SAM
umbrella in the entire area would have been the RIM-92 Stinger MANPADS that
the Secret Service allegedly (not verified AFAIK) had on-hand to protect the
White House from close-in airborne threats.
What unit operated these mythical SAM's that were supposed to be protecting
the Pentagon, and what kind of system has this mysterious key that was
allegedly missing? Hint--none. Why? Because it is all a figment of the
imagination of a somewhat warped poster who needs to replenish his tinfoil
supply, 'cause those mind-rays are apparently affecting him...

No, no, no! That is the *decoy* missile site, silly. The real missiles are
esconced in the "Metro Station" (wink-wink) at Pentagon City, with Paul's
radars (flat panel synthetics, of course) being embedded in the panels of
The Wall... all controlled by a kid standing in a "video arcade" (wink-wink)
at Tysons Mall that is *really* a state-of-the-art missile control center
(and you probably thought he was playing "Space Invaders" or something,
right?). I know this is all true, 'cause you can read about it on the
internet....

Have you tried to give any semi-serious thought to this?
How would the computer send a message to the plane? Does it broadcast
this on all possible aviation frequencies simultaneously - that would be
a feat, even for military systems; especially if the pilot happened to
be transmitting at the time the message was sent. Or maybe they fire a
flare in the color-of-the-day?
What does the pilot punch the 'code' into? Some secret magic box. Not
likely to be the ATCRBS/SSR since that is already being monitored by
multiple civil and military radars.
If such a code existed it would have to be given to all pilots who might
possibly fly into pentagon airspace, given that the airspace around
Washington is fairly busy; and prominently displayed in the cockpit
since it must be entered in 'seconds' to avoid being shot down. That
makes it pretty difficult to keep it secret.
And, since violations of prohibited airspace are regular events, and no
one has been shot down yet, it seems unlikely that your statement makes
any sense at all.
But it's fun playing!

The real question should be:
"Please Sir, may I have more medication? I can still hear these voices in my

Except all those people who know even a smidgen about defense matters.
There was no missile system defending the Pentagon on Sept. 11 because there
was literally no missile system in place to do so. No one was expecting an
aircraft attack on the building.

Ah, a loony provokes a loony response. So, what was it that hit the
Pentagon then if it wasn't a jet airliner? A cruise missile? An F16. A
jet liner, but one controlled by evil remote control beams from NSA

I'd go along with a cruise. In the fake of the passernger plane
impacting the Pentagon the flash is there before the explosion,
so that passenger plane it was not.
Cruise? - My money would go on that. So, sent by whom? And
in collusion with whom?
And that is the interesting one. Under our very noses.

Far more interesting is the fact that folks like you actually believe this
kind of nonsense. One would suspect that you couldn't *recognize* your nose,
much less identify what is under it. All of those eyewitnesses who saw the
aircraft impact the Pentagon, not to mention the video of the event, is
part-and-parcel of a Great Conspiracy, to include imaginary SAM's located to
defend the Pentagon, etc., eh? It is rather odd that you think we could
successfully cover up such a Great Conspiracy, but felt it necessary to
publicly announce something like the recent Abu Ghraib prison situation.
Methinks you and your merry band of conspiracy theorists are in need of
adjustment--a few whacks with a loon mallet seem to be in order. Not that it
would necessarily help matters, as y'all appear to already be "whacked"...

There was also someone who tried to fly a UH-1 into the White House
back in the '70s, as well.

And universally derided as a Bad Idea. A small missile, like a
Stinger, isn't going to stop an airplane in its final dive - you'll
just get hit with a damaged airplane. (Or, if it misses the White
House, crash it into the heart of the city. _There's_ a delightful
prospect!) A more likely event is that any MANPADS/Avenger type stuff
fired in downtown D.C. would much rather track one of the zillions of
airliners around, rather than a fast-closing head-on, adn relatively
cool target. That gives you the yummy prospect of not only having had
somebody kamikaze the White House, but the Secret Service has just
shot down an airliner full of people. (Into downtown D.C., again)

Uhmmm--you do know that we do have Avengers emplaced downtown now? There was
a photo of one on a pedestal mount atop one of the buildings in downtown DC
that appeared in the press just a few months back?

The Washington Monument is open for tourists again.
And I've driven all the way around the Pentagon in the last month;
during working hours you will see assorted Hummvee's on the perimeter,
but certainly none of this automated system, which sounds quite
dangerous, an automatic system so close to the busy DCA.

Well, I've got about a half-dozen of them stored in my basement in
Alexandria, but darn it all, I was at work that morning. And I'm told
that we have a swimming pool buried in the common area behind my
neighbors across the street, too.

Yes, I know that. My comment about their efficacy still stands. It
does make some people feel better, I suppose.

You mean that various kooks and cranks *haven't* landed aircraft on the
White House lawn? It was all a mass hallucination?
And SAMs and airport approaches don't mix.

Ahem - Tin Foil hats off......
You all think you know so much!
Of course the automatic system is dangerous - it downs on average 3
planes a year with no survivors - if it wasn't for the gigantic memory
eraser (Washingotn Monument? Yeah....right - look into the red light
at the top please) you'd all remember the stories, and the lost loved
ones who sacrificed thier lives for the evil NaZi ZoG!
All the remains of the aircraft are bulldozed into the Potomac - why
do you think you're not allowed to use private submarines on the
Potmac eh?
Tin Foil hats back on please.
Nothing to see here please move right along......

Not allowed to use private submarines on the Potomoc? Other watercraft
are allowed? How about scuba diving?

Actually skinny dipping is preferred to private watercraft. It actually is
beneficial if you urinate in the river. Noted upgrade in water quality.

But not in the Reflecting Pool of teh Washington Monument - unless
you're the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Comittee, and are
occompanied by a Stripper from Boston.

There is no issue to address. Your entire scenario is specious.
There is no "code to be punched in" when approaching a given airspace,
and the Pentagon was not defended by SAM emplacements prior to 9/11.
As such, you are asking someone to defend something that didn't happen
with a system that doesn't exist.

I know I'm way out of date, but no IFF any more (or its equivalent)? Just free
wheeling all over our airspace?

Uh, yeah. It's the "Open Skies" policy that was initiated in the Eisenhower
years.
Where have you been for the last fifty years?

Where have YOU been? Have you never heard of mode C, ADIZ or restricted,
prohibited or class A air space?

Civilian aircraft don't use IFF. Almost all aircraft use
transponders, however, which are typically set before takeoff
and changed infrequently in flight at the direction of ATC-
and their codes aren't used to authenticate identity in
the manner alleged by the moron who started this thread.
Military IFF systems also work differently than alleged
at the start of the thread. The encrypted Mode 4 is set
prior to takeoff (although on some aircraft you can reset
them in flight only because the actual equipment is inside
the pressure compartment) and changed on a time schedule
(typically Zulu day change).
